1. Fall 2010 Sport Leagues - OMG! Only 9 days to left to register!

Fall 2010 league registration is now open and ready for registration. You have the choice of 21 different sports being offered in either turf, indoor or outdoor leagues. 

Sign up for more than one team and receive a 10% discount on second team or individual registration. 

Did you know that OSSC offers leagues in KANATA and ORLEANS? CHECK IT OUT!

Here are your important Fall dates:

  • Online registration ends Tuesday, September 7th.
  • Indoor leagues start Sunday, September 19th and end Monday, December 13th - 12 weeks.
  • Outdoor leagues start Sunday, September 19th and end Sunday, October 31st - 6 weeks.

2. Sprummer 2010 Wrap Party at LAGO - Don't miss this night of FUN!

DATE: Friday, September 17th, 2010
TIME: We have exclusivity at Lago from 9:00pm to 11:00pm.  We're expecting over 300 people so don't show up late and miss out!
LOCATION: Lago Bar & Grill - Dow's Lake Pavillion
COST: $5 each or $30 for 10.  Tickets also available at the door for $5 (sold on a first come, first serve basis)
WHAT TO EXPECT: Meet other OSSC members and have a great time! Oh, and we will be handing out shirts and hardware (trophy's) to all Sprummer 2010 champs.  We also have lots of fantastic door prizes available to win!

3. Join our team - OSSC is hiring!

1. Evening League Facilitator - (Part-time, Evening Position)

The Evening League Facilitator (ELF) is an evening position (5:00pm to 10:00pm), Monday thru Thursday shared by two people.  We are hiring one candidate to cover two shifts per week.  As the ELF you are responsible to train Event Coordinators, market and promote the leagues and events, manage and host special events, stock sports equipment at various facilities and other projects and duties as required.

2. Event Coordinators - (Part-time, Evening Position)

OSSC is looking for social and responsible people to work in the evenings setting up equipment and overseeing leagues. Must commit for an entire season - be it Spring, Summer, Fall or Winter. Available shifts are Monday to Sunday ... pick the night you wish to work. Great opportunity to make some $, while meeting fun people in the league. No experience required, but having access to a vehicle would be helpful.

5. Don't forget to submit your Royal Oak frequent visit cards for a chance to win!

How does $500 in FREE Labatt products sound?! Your Royal Oak frequent visit cards must be submitted by September 10th   to be included in the Sprummer 2010 draw.  The draw will take place during the Winter Wrap Party (see above for party details).

Qualify for the contest in 3 easy steps:

1) Visit any of the 11 Royal Oak locations in Ottawa
2) Have your server sign your Frequent Visit Card
3) After 6 visits fill out the back of the card with your team information and drop off completed card at the OSSC office or directly to us at the Winter Wrap Party

6. OSSC Spotlight - Mathieu Fleury 

We would like to recognize a member who has supported and played a variety of sports with OSSC such as all-sorts-of-sports to soccer for the last 5 years. 

Mathieu Fleury was born and raised in Ottawa and currently holds a B.Sc. in Human Kinetics and a M.HK. in Sports Management from the University of Ottawa. His experience includes working at the Office of Minister of State for Sport where he was in involved in sports policy and the 2010 Winter Olympic Games project. He has volunteered for Baseball Canada’s Women National Baseball Team during the 2008 World Cup in Japan, Diving Canada, Volleyball Canada, and as well as for the Canadian Olympic Committee during the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver. He has over 10 years of work experience with the City of Ottawa in department of parks and recreation specifically in aquatics, children and family programming.  Overall, his commitment in life is to lead by example and to help others to embark on healthier, more active lives through both physical activity and improved nutrition.

Mathieu believes that Ottawa needs civic leaders who are active, dedicated, honest, and open to bringing new ideas to the community and city. He is such a person, one who is willing to help build on the very strong foundations of our communities and to engage in dialogue that will lead to making good and meaningful decisions for the future of Rideau-Vanier ward and the city at large.
