Stand Up Paddle (SUP) - Introduction

Get your feet wet with the world's fastest growing water sport, Stand Up Paddling (SUP)!


This course is ideal for those interested in finding out more about this super fun sport. Through the eight week session we cover how to safely care for your board, and how to balance and paddle efficiently on calm sheltered waters. As the weeks progress you will take your stand up paddling skills to the next level and will learn some of the different types of strokes and freestyle moves.

Start/end dates


Session I - Starts Tuesday, May 16 and ends Tuesday, July 4.


Session II - Starts Tuesday, July 11 and ends Tuesday, August 29.



Session II - Starts Thursday, July 13 and ends Thursday, August 31.

Class times

6:00-7:15pm except for Thursday Session II which will run from 7:15-8:30pm.


All classes run for 75 minutes.

Price $230 + HST

Class packages

Sprummer 2017 class packages will be dropped off on your first night of classes!

Class packages include: Detailed information about the class, as well as your OSSC key tag which provides you with excellent deals through our OSSC Partners.


If you want to pick up your package prior to the first class, extended office hours are:

Wednesday, May 10 - 9:30am-8:00pm
Thursday, May 11 - 9:30am-8:00pm
Friday, May 12 - 9:30am-6:00pm

What you need to know about Stand Up Paddle - Introduction:

# of participants

There will be a maximum of 8 participants to 1 instructor.  


All equipment is provided (including life jackets). Participants are required to provide comfortable athletic wear that can get wet and be comfortable in water.

*Wetsuits or drysuits recommended.

Paddlefit has a few dry suits that you can rent at $20/evening (first come first serve). They also have a few wet suits which can be borrowed each night. Please contact your instructor Jodi at to make reservations.

A bit about your instructor!

Your amazing SUP instructor is Jodi!


Lifestyle and and outdoor sport performance coaching.  As an athlete Jodi has competed in alpine and nordic skiing events during the winters.  In the summer months he has been a member of the Canadian wildwater kayaking team, competing in several world championships.  After discovering Stand up Paddling (SUP) on a trip in Maui, he has been spreading the stroke of SUP in the Ottawa - Gatineau Region!

Class will take place at one of these locations:

1) Bates Island in the Ottawa River. Located off the Champlain Bridge/Island Park Dr. crossing the Ottawa River towards Quebec.  

2) Lac Leamy, near the Hull Casino.

*Location to be confirmed prior to the start of first class.
