Stand Up Paddle (SUP) - Intro + Explore

Get your feet wet with the world's fastest growing water sport - Stand Up Paddling (SUP)!

This class is ideal for those interested in experiencing more with this super fun sport. Through the 6 and 8-week sessions we cover how to balance and paddle efficiently, learn different types of strokes and freestyle moves all on calm sheltered waters.

The Nation's Capital has beautiful scenery which you will be able to explore while on the water (not to mention taking advantage of some fantastic selfie opportunities)!

Note: Participants are encouraged to bring their own Personal Floating Device (life jacket).


Under the new Ontario Roadmap to Reopen, some recreational activities are able to resume in a step by step approach. Please reference the new SUP dates below.

Session 1 Registration Deadline is Wednesday, June 9th @ midnight!

COVID-19 Protocol & Safe Return

We are committed to providing the highest levels of safety for our community.  

To ensure participant and staff safety, we have implemented mandatory 'Safe Return to Play Protocol & Guidelines' for all Club Activities.  In order to play with the Ottawa Sport & Social Club and stay in good standing, the following guidelines MUST be followed.  A zero-tolerance policy is in place for those who challenge these decisions.   

To ensure a successful season, please remember to practice safe physical distancing and a positive attitude!

All players are required to read, understand, and adhere to all COVID-19 Guidelines.

Start/End Dates

Session 1: Starts Thursday, June 17 and ends Thursday, July 29.

Session 2: Starts Thursday August 5, and ends Thursday, September 23 

# of Weeks

Session 1: 6 weeks.

Session 2: 8 Weeks.

Class Times

Option 1: 5:45pm - 7:00pm. 

Option 2: 7:15pm - 8:30pm. 

All classes run for 75 minutes.

The instructor will provide information in the event of inclement weather. 

Price Session 1: $180.00 + HST.

Session 2: $240.00 + HST.

Bye Dates

Thursday, July 1 (Canada Day).

# of Participants

There will be a maximum of 10 participants to 1 instructor.  

Equipment

All equipment is provided (including life jackets but participants are encouraged to bring their own). Participants should wear comfortable athletic clothing that can get wet.

About Your Instructor!

Your amazing SUP instructor is Sylvain!

Paddleboard instructor in the summer, snowboard instructor in the winter; being in the outdoors makes Sylvain happy no matter the weather!

Please refer to the sport rules page to view league rules.  It is the responsibility of all players to read and understand the sport specific rules as well as the general rules & club policies.

Location

Class will take place at one of these locations (but not limited to):

Ottawa River, Lac Leamy, Rideau River, Meech Lake, Dow's Lake, Mousseau Lake, Pink Lake, Kingsmere Lake.
