Gatineau Snowshoeing

Bring your headlamp and come experience the great trails, wonderful scenery, and wildlife of the Gatineau Hills!

This outdoor social program requires no previous experience. Be prepared to travel on and off trails to add a bit more fun and challenge to your experience. Each week classes will be at a different location in the Gatineau Park and surrounding areas.

Where possible, participants will be invited to warm up after your night of snowshoeing at various nearby local pubs!


All participants must adhere to physical distancing procedures and safety protocols when on site. 

Registration deadline is Thursday, January 28th @ midnight!

COVID-19 Protocol & Guidelines

We are committed to providing the highest levels of safety for our community.  


To ensure participant and staff safety, we have implemented mandatory 'Safe Return to Play Protocol & Guidelines' for all Club Activities.  In order to participate with the Ottawa Sport & Social Club and stay in good standing, the following guidelines MUST be followed.  A zero-tolerance policy is in place for those who challenge these decisions.   


To ensure a successful season, please remember to practice safe physical distancing and a positive attitude!

All participants are required to read, understand and adhere to the following:

4 - Self Screening Tool (done before each hike). 


As well as:

  • Facility specific COVID-19 Protocols (you can find these protocols in the facility link in your schedule once live). 

Start/end dates

Tuesday: Starts Tuesday, February 9 and ends Tuesday, March 16 (includes two reschedule dates of Thursday February 11 and Thursday February 18).

Thursday: Starts Thursday, February 11 and ends Thursday, March 18 (includes two reschedule dates of Tuesday February 16 and Tuesday February 23).

Hike Times

Snowshoers will meet at a designated location at 6:00pm.

Snowshoe hikes will last approximately 90 minutes.


Individual Registration: $165.00 + HST.

The meet up location and trail will be posted online and sent to participants two days prior to the hike, along with specific COVID-19 protocols.

What you need to know about Gatineau Snowshoeing!    


This is a outdoor social program.


Participants will be sent the meeting point and trail details ahead of time. Participants will meet the OSSC Representative and will embark the trail as a group.


Open skill level, everyone welcome. 

Mandatory Group Requirements



  • This program will have a maximum of 24 participants per group (would be revised if there are changes to Quebec Provincial guidelines).  Once the first week has gone by, no additional participants will be added to the program.  

1) All participants are required to sign the waiver.


2) Hike day wellness checks “COVID-19 Self Screening” must be completed by all players prior to participation.

3) Participants must maintain physical distancing of 2-meters before, during and after all activities.  This includes arriving on-site, hiking, resting/sitting, and departing the location.


4) No Spectators are allowed under any circumstance (this includes kids, family, friends, etc). Only registered participants are able to participate.

Participants are required to wash/sanitize their hands before and after each hike. Do not share water bottles, snacks or warm clothing with others.

You will be snowshoeing under the moonlight, so ensure to bring a headlamp with you. 

Dress lightly with active wear as you will not be standing around long and will warm-up very quickly.

Participants must have their own pair of snowshoes and wear clothing that suits the weather. 

Rental equipment is available for the season at several locations in Ottawa at an extra charge. Your instructor Jodi can also arrange equipment rentals at a reduced price:



COVID-19 RULE MODIFICATIONS - Please refer to the sport rules page to view league rules.  It is the responsibility of all players to read and understand the sport specific rules as well as the general rules & club policies.


Each week participants will meet their class instructor in the Gatineau Trails around the Chelsea area. 

The specific meeting point for each class will be provided beforehand.
