Softball - Ottawa South

 Back again for another season OSSC is proud to offer regional Softball leagues in and around the city!

Play in Ottawa South and choose to from 2 nights a week (Tuesday or Thursday).

RULE UPDATES -  For 2020, OSSC will continue to use enforce the mandatory use of helmets. Please refer to the "Rules" tab for more information.

Registration deadline is Monday, April 20th @ midnight!

LATE FEES will apply to all registrations received after the deadline.

 


Sprummer 2020 Details:

Start / End Dates

Tuesday: Starts Tuesday, May 12 and ends Tuesday, August 25.

Thursday: 
Starts Thursday, May 14 and ends Thursday, August 27.

# of Weeks

16 weeks (14 weeks of regular season + 2 weeks of playoffs).

Estimated Game Times

Rotating start times between 6:30pm, 8pm and 9:30pm.

Game length is 90 minutes. 

Note: Every effort is made to equalize the start times and locations across the league.
Registration Options & Price Team registration: $1,145.00 + HST. 

After checkout, send your teammates roster invites through the website (under "My Team" player list) so they can accept the waiver and access the schedule and standings once it is posted.   

Individual registration: $145.00 + HST. 

You will be placed on a roster of individuals by end of day Monday, April 27. For ease of communication with our office, teams must select a captain and co-captain on our website to represent your individuals team (click here to learn more about individual teams).

During our office extended hours: 

  • Wednesday, May 6 (10:00am - 8:00pm)
  • Thursday, May 7 (10:00am - 8:00pm)
  • Friday, May 8 (10:00am - 7:00pm)

If you would like to come by after the extended office hour dates above our office is open Monday to Friday from 10:00am – 5:30pm.  We request captains do their best to make the extended office hours as we have additional staff on hand.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • Captains can nominate another player, a friend, or a family member to pick-up their pre-paid equipment, team newsletter and key tags, on one of the dates listed above.

  • Individual registrants: After Monday, April 27, we ask all individual players contact their teammates through our website (you can log in, click on "My Team", then "Player List") to confirm who will be responsible for picking up your equipment & team package on behalf of your team.

What you need to know about Softball:

# of Players on Field

9 players (minimum 3 males and 3 females).

Suggested Roster/Individuals Roster Size

10-12 players.

Equipment

Teams are responsible for bringing to each game:

  • A set of 4 bases
  • 4 batting helmets
  • 3 Softballs
  • 2 pylons (when required – see sport rules) 
  • 1 catcher's mask
  • 1 scorebook 

A catcher’s mask, softballs, pylons and base sets are available to rent from OSSC for a $75 refundable deposit. This can be done at the time of your league registration and in your shopping cart.

 
Batters and Base Runners are required to wear a helmet (mandatory). Helmets are the responsibility of each team to provide. All teams must have a minimum of 4 helmets (one for the batter and 3 for potential base runners).

Additional League Information


All teams receive:

Rules

Please refer to the sport rules page to view league rules.  It is the responsibility of all players to read and understand the sport specific rules as well as the general rules & club policies.

Score & Spirit Point Reporting

  • Game Scores (account for 75% of total points): Team captains are responsible for reporting the scores after your game by logging into your player profile and clicking on ‘My Team’ tab and selecting ‘Report Score/Spirit Points’.  Teams have a 48 hour window to report scores after the completion of the game.  Please be timely with your score reporting so league standings can remain updated for playoff positioning.
  • Spirit Points (account for 25% of total points): Spirit points are awarded to a team from their opponent after each game to encourage sportsmanship, honesty, integrity and fair play.  For more information and how to properly award spirit points, please see our section ‘All About Spirit Points’.

Location

Note: The majority of diamonds will be located within the region in which you registered. In some cases, there may be the addition of diamonds added into the rotation that are outside of the regional boundary. Best efforts will be done to keep the regional diamond allocation.

Tuesday: Greenboro Park, Arch Street Public School, and Leitrim Park.

Thursday: Aladdin Park, Arch Street Public School, Greenboro Park, Ottawa Business Park, and Leitrim Park.
