Ping Pong

 Game On Ottawa!

 

Put your accuracy and agility skills to the test in OSSC’s 12-week Ping Pong league!

Join with a partner or sign-up individually and we will pair you up! Teams will have a 15-minute warm-up before playing 4 games per evening (4 singles matches per team). Whether you're Recreational or Advanced, there is a skill level for everyone!  A new format for singles play has been created to adhere to COVID-19 facility requirements. 


Teams and Individual players will register in an "Open" skill division. Teams and Individual players will then be placed into an appropriate skill division based on the ladder format results from week 1 to ensure the best possible experience! The first league games will then commence in week 2!

Players are required to bring their own racquet and OSSC will provide the ping pong balls. 

 

 

COVID-19 PROTOCOL

All participants must adhere to physical distancing procedures and other safety protocols when on site.

COVID-19 Protocol & Guidelines

We are committed to providing the highest levels of safety for our community.  

 

To ensure player and staff safety, we have implemented mandatory 'Safe Return to Play Protocol & Guidelines' for all Club Activities.  In order to play with the Ottawa Sport & Social Club and stay in good standing, the following guidelines MUST be followed.  A zero-tolerance policy is in place for those who challenge these decisions.   


To ensure a successful Fall season, please remember to practice safe physical distancing and a positive attitude!


All players are required to read, understand and adhere to the following:

As well as:

 

  • Facility specific COVID-19 Protocols (you can find these protocols in the facility link in your schedule once live).

Start/End Dates

Starts Monday, January 18 and ends Monday, April 26. 

# Of Weeks

12 weeks (1st week ladder format + 11 weeks of regular season games, no playoffs).

Game Times

Rotating start times between 6:00pm and 7:15pm.


Game length is 55 minutes.

*Note the first week will be split into two groups based on self-rating provided at registration. 

Registration Options & Price

Team registration: $175.00 + HST.

After checkout, send your teammates roster invites through the website (under "My Team" player list) so they can accept the waiver and access the schedule and standings once they are posted.   

Individual registration: $95.00 + HST.


You will be placed on a roster of individuals two days before your league starts. For ease of communication with our office, teams must select a captain and co-captain on our website to represent your individuals team (click here to learn more about individual teams).

Bye Dates

Monday, February 15 (Family Day).

Monday, March 15 (March Break).

Monday, April 5 (Easter Monday).

Week 1 Ladder Format will take place on Monday, January 18.

Individual team rosters and schedules will be posted online two days before your league starts.

What you need to know about Ping Pong:   


# of People on a Team

2 players (no gender requirements).

Mandatory Roster Requirements

COVID-19 LEAGUE MODIFICATIONS - Each sport has specific mandatory roster requirements. 

 

Ping Pong:

  • 2 players maximum on roster per team.
  • 8 participants maximum inside the studio per hour.

 

1) No substitutions allowed outside your 2-player roster (unless from the same league and tier).

 

2) All players on your team are required to sign the waiver and show on your Team's roster online. 

 

3) Game day wellness checks “COVID-19 Self Screening” must be completed by all players prior to participation.


4) Players must maintain physical distancing of 2-meters before, during and after all activities.  This includes arriving on-site, playing the sport, resting/sitting on the sidelines, and departing the game.


5) No Spectators are allowed under any circumstance (this includes kids, family, etc).

Team Safety Ambassador (TSA)

COVID-19 LEAGUE MODIFICATIONS - All teams must assign a Team Safety Ambassador (TSA) for the season. 


The TSA must be a registered player and identified using the “TSA” label in your online roster.



  • TSA Role: 
    • Watch a pre-season Safe Return to Play training video.
    • Keep a record of attendance at each game.  This record may be called upon for contact tracing. 
    • Ensure individual wellness checks “COVID-19 Self Screening” are completed by each player prior to each game.
    • Ask players to leave the game if they arrive showing symptoms of cold or flu.
    • Ensure physical distancing measures are enforced by your team.  Physical distancing of two meters is mandatory when players are arriving on-site, playing the sport, resting/sitting on the sidelines, and departing the game.
    • Sport-specific rules may adjust physical distancing measures taken on the playing surface.
    • Players must always stay within their designated bench or standing area while not on the playing surface.
    • Ensure your team follows posted ENTER / EXIT signage at facilities (controlled traffic flow).
    • Remind all players to arrive on time and leave immediately after the game is over.
    • Ensure your team is following the equipment sanitization requirements for your sport.
    • Ensure all players have read and understand mandatory Club COVID-19 Protocols.

COVID-19 LEAGUE MODIFICATIONS - Teams are required to bring their own paddle to every game.  Do not share your paddle with any other member in the league (teammate or opponent).

  • Balls will be provided on-site and sanitized between each game.
  • Ping Pong tables will be sanitized by facility staff after each game.

 

NEW League Modifications

COVID-19 LEAGUE MODIFICATIONS - Returning to league sports this Sprummer will be a unique experience. As part of our "Safe Return to Play" format, we are focusing on the safety of our staff and players and leaning into the FUN and SOCIAL aspects of our leagues!

  • Fall Leagues will be played “for fun” with no scores, standings, or playoffs.  
  • The “Spirit Score” system for Teams is still in place to share recognition or concerns with us.
  • No prizing or trophies will be awarded. 
  • Leagues will be played in smaller Tiers to ensure limited contact with opponents throughout the season.  Tiers will be determined based on skill rankings (at registration) and past league results.
  • Each Tier will be confined to a limited number of facilities.  You will play at consistent location(s) throughout the season. Please note, we are unable to accommodate or make facility changes based on individual requests this season. 
  • All leagues will have an even number of teams to avoid double-header play. 
  • Game times will be staggered by a minimum of 10 minutes across all sports leagues to ensure safe traffic flow.
  • Players are asked to compete with a “Play On” mentality.  No arguing or disputing calls made during the game.
