Virtual Hip Hop Dance

 

Get up and DANCE this Winter! Join OSSC in this NEW, beginner Hip Hop class and learn to move and groove right from your own living room. Improve your coordination and build confidence to the sound of great music.


Hip hop is an urban dance genre that combines a variety of music styles and dance moves. Hip hop has boomed in popularity recently because of it’s prevalence in commercial dance and main stream music.

This is a beginner class - No experience is needed. Every-BODY is welcome!


All you need is a wi-fi enabled device, access to Zoom, your own space to move and a positive attitude!


This live virtual fitness class will be led by professional dancer and choreographer Edmund Gyamfi, better known by his stage name Edz Gyamfi. Ed has over 10 years experience teaching a wide range of clients from kids to older adults! Edz teaching style focuses on the history, foundations, and techniques before hitting the choreography aspect of the dance style. Starts Wednesday, January 20 and ends February 24.

6 weeks.

Class Times

The live virtual class will start at 6:00pm.

Each class is 55 minutes in length.

Participants are asked to join the zoom "waiting room" at least 5 minutes early to allow for a prompt class start.

Price

Individual Registration: $85.00 + HST.

Schedule

A Welcome Letter, with a zoom link and any other information will be provided 1 day prior to the first class.

About your Instructor

Edmund Gyamfi, better known by his stage name Edz Gyamfi, is a Ghanaian-Canadian dance choreographer from Ottawa, Ontario.

Edz main dance foundations are Hip Hop and Dancehall/Roots Reggae. Edz is also known to incorporate different styles of dance to incorporate various ranges of movement.

Edz determination to becoming one of Toronto’s top dance choreographers has brought him to various cities throughout North American cities such as: New York, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Saskatoon and Halifax. Edz has travelled abroad to countries like Mexico and Jamaica.

Edz is always looking to branch out and share his love of dance with anybody who seeks to learn and grow.


Participant Conduct & Sportsmanship Expectations

All participants are expected to follow SSC sportsmanship expectations. Any unsportsmanlike conduct may result in immediate expulsion from the class. 

The following actions are prohibited:
  • All elements of verbal abuse; harassing, threatening, bullying, or doing anything else to another members that is unwanted.
  • Making personal attacks or statements about race, sexual orientation, religion, heritage, etc.

Equipment

Participants are required to have the following:
  • Laptop, tablet, or mobile device
  • Access to the internet
  • Sufficient space to move

 

Rules

It is the responsibility of all participants to read and understand the sport specific rules (if applicable) as well as the general rules & club policies.

Location

All classes will be held virtually over Zoom. Participants will receive a link to join the Zoom call in advance. Requirements include: access to an internet connection and Zoom on a computer or an alternative device.
