Come out and enjoy some fresh air, friends, and get fit while playing Flag Football this Sprummer season!

NEW this season, we are offering this league exclusively at Twin Elm Park - just a short drive from Kanata, Manotick and Barrhaven! Players can enjoy the rest of the evening with nice a cold beer after the game directly ONSITE in the clubhouse bar!

COVID-19 Protocol & Guidelines

We are committed to providing the highest levels of safety for our community.  


To ensure player and staff safety, we have implemented mandatory 'Safe Return to Play Protocol & Guidelines' for all Club Activities.  In order to play with the Ottawa Sport & Social Club and stay in good standing, the following guidelines MUST be followed.  A zero-tolerance policy is in place for those who challenge these decisions.   

To ensure a successful season, please remember to practice safe physical distancing and a positive attitude!

All players are required to read, understand, and adhere to all COVID-19 Guidelines.

Start/End Dates

Monday:  Starts Monday, May 17 and ends on Monday, August 30.

Tuesday:  Starts Tuesday, May 18 and ends on Tuesday, August 31.

Wednesday:  Starts Wednesday, May 19 and ends on Wednesday, September 1.

Thursday: Starts Thursday, May 20 and ends on Thursday, September 9.

League start and end dates are subject to change. OSSC endeavors to provide registered players and individuals with as much notice as possible should changes occur.  

# of Weeks

16 weeks (14 regular season games + 2 playoff games).

For sports where the COVID-19 sport cohort rules limit just 4 teams per league, we will be posting the 16-weeks of games as two x 8-week schedules.  This will allow leagues to be re-aligned for skill (where possible) after the first half of the season.

Game Times

All games will take place at 6:30pm.

Game length is 90 minutes.

Sunset Time:  During late August & September, outdoor sports may have game times adjusted based on the earlier sunset.  This means, games during these months could start as early as 5:45pm. 

Registration Options & Price

Team registration: $875.00 + HST.

After checkout, send your teammates roster invites through the website (under "My Team" player list) so they can accept the waiver and access the schedule and standings once it is posted.   

Individual registration: $125.00 + HST.

You will be placed on a roster of individuals two days before your first game. For ease of communication with our office, teams must select a captain, co-captain and Team Safety Ambassador (TSA) on our website to represent your team (click here to learn more about individual teams).

Bye Dates

Thursday, July 1 (Canada Day).

In the event games are rescheduled, weekend and off-night games may be played. Every effort is made to provide significant notice. View our foul weather and game cancellation policy here.

# of People on the Field

7 players (minimum 2 males and 2 females).

Mandatory Roster Requirements

COVID-19 LEAGUE MODIFICATIONS - Each sport has specific mandatory roster requirements. 

 

Flag Football 7's: 

  • 12 players maximum on roster per team.
  • 4 teams maximum per league (tier).
  • 48 participants maximum per league (tier).

All players on your team are required to sign the waiver and must show on your team's roster online. 

No substitutes allowed outside your roster (unless from the same league and tier).

Team Safety Ambassador (TSA)

COVID-19 LEAGUE MODIFICATIONS - All teams must assign a Team Safety Ambassador (TSA) for the season. 

The TSA must be a registered player and identified using the “TSA” label in your online roster.

Equipment
Requirements

COVID-19 LEAGUE MODIFICATIONS - Teams are required to have their own NFL regulation size ball, cones, and flag belts. This equipment is available to rent from the OSSC office. Footballs, cones and flag belts will not be provided on-site. 


If you do not want to bring your own, a football, cones and flag belts are available to rent at our office. A $75 refundable deposit is required and payable with credit card, cheque or through the website during online registration (in shopping cart).

Teams are required to wash/sanitize all team equipment before and after the game.  Do not share your game ball and equipment with other teams.


Scoreboards are not available to rent at this time.

Rules

COVID-19 RULE MODIFICATIONS - Please refer to the sport rules page to view league rules.  It is the responsibility of all players to read and understand the sport specific rules as well as the general rules & club policies.

Modified Score & Spirit Point Reporting

  • There will not be trophies or prizing this season, however, leagues will have playoffs, scores and standings.
  • The “Spirit Score” system for Teams is still in place to share recognition or concerns with us.

About Spirit Points: Spirit points are awarded to a team from their opponent after each game to encourage sportsmanship, honesty, integrity and fair play.  For more information and how to properly award spirit points, please see our section ‘All About Spirit Points’.
