Salsa Dance Lessons

Enjoy this unique and fun way to keep in shape, build confidence, and meet great people. Salsa dancing is one of the most exciting activities you will experience. While Salsa will be the focus of the session, other Latin dances will be introduced like the Cha-Cha and Merengue. Come with an open mind and learn some fun dance moves!

During the 8-week program:

Level 1 (Beginner): We will introduce you to the steps needed to learn Salsa at a basic level, or help you to refine existing Salsa dancing skills.

Level 2 (Intermediate): For the more advanced dancer who builds on the fundamental skills taught at previous sessions. The main focus of this level is to work on rhythm, timing and flow of movement on the dance floor.

The only requirements for these classes are a good mood, willingness to learn and a smile. The rest comes by itself. Whether for personal achievement, exercise, competition, improvement of your Salsa skills, or for the simple pleasure of dancing... just come out and dance. No partner needed!

*Both skill levels may be merged into one class depending upon final registration numbers.

A little bit about your instructors Maria and Stephane:

They have been teaching for nearly ten years. Their dance teaching technique has proven to give results in Salsa, Merengue and Bachata from beginner to advanced level dancers, covering the various Latin dance styles. For social dancing, performances, competition, or just for fun, their group or private classes will help you learn in a fun and enjoyable environment.

Maria was born and raised in Mexico. She started to dance Salsa with the troupe of a gifted dancer, Jose Enrique, from Los Angeles. He was at the time the number one leader in Salsa dancing who introduced the L.A. style in Mexico City. Her past performances include shows for world renowned artists such as Mark Anthony, Eddie Palmieri and La India.

Stephane was born and raised in Montreal. He learned and trained with Montreal and New York's best Salsa dancers in the New York Mambo style such as Eddy Torres, Santo Rico, Saltimambo, San Tropez Dance School and many others. He has performed for the Montreal Jazz Festival and for the Montreal Just for Laugh Festival, Tito Puente and in various television productions.

Maria and Stephane blended their style together. A winning formula that made them win many national level competitions. From Montreal they moved to Edmonton, where they implemented and popularised the New York and L.A. style Salsa. Since 2004 they have been operating dance schools, training outstanding dancers, creating choreographies and giving performances. Today in Ottawa, they care about sharing this passion for Latin dances with those who want to join this enthralling activity that is SALSA dancing.

There are two rules:

1) Participants must dance at all times.

2) Participants must have a good time and laugh often.

All participants in this class will receive:

  • An OSSC key tag which gives you access to discounts and deals from our amazing sponsors and partners around town! See all the deals!
