SSC Official Esport Rules – Open

  • The objective is to score more goals/points than your opponent.

System Requirements

  • Participants are required to have one the following game consoles and have reliable internet service.
    • Xbox One
    • Playstation 4
    • Nintendo Switch

Game Setup & Start

  • The home team (identified in the league schedule) is responsible for creating the head 2 head lobby and inviting their opponent (away player) to the match.
  • Within the Esport game, players are at liberty to choose their preferred team. It is accepted to have the same teams play against each other. In this case, the ‘away’ player is required to choose the away jersey for that team.
  • Player game tags will be listed beside team names in the SSC schedule.

Game Times, Defaults & Score Reporting

  • We suggest teams play their egames according to the date and time on the league schedule. If one or both of the players are unable to participate in the scheduled game time, it is up to the two players to communicate and agree on a new date and time.
  • Games must be played and scores reported within 6 days of the scheduled game.
  • Scores are submitted online through the SSC website, or via email to the SSC office.
  • To help eliminate the possibility of a score dispute, players are responsible for taking a screenshot of the final score of each game. If there is a score dispute, SSC will request a copy of the screenshot.

Spirit Point Reporting, Player Conduct, & Sportsmanship Expectations

  • Spirit Points (account for 25% of total points): Spirit points are awarded to a team from their opponent after each game to encourage sportsmanship, honesty, integrity and fair play.
  • All participants are expected to follow SSC sportsmanship expectations. Any unsportsmanlike conduct may result in immediate expulsion from the league.
  • The following actions are prohibited:
    • All elements of verbal abuse; harassing, threatening, bullying, or doing anything else to another Player that is unwanted.
    • Making personal attacks or statements about race, sexual orientation, religion, heritage, etc.
    • Match fixing, match dodging, or engaging in any behaviour that otherwise constitutes cheating or disrupts the integrity of SSC esports leagues.
    • Attempting to gain an unfair competitive advantage inconsistent with standard gameplay.

Disconnection Rules

  • In the event of an uncontrollable disconnection, players are to use their best judgement on how to restart/resume the game in progress.
  • We highly recommend taking a screenshot of any game disconnection evidence in case of a dispute.
  • In the result of a dispute, SSC will make a final decision on the outcome of the game.

Playoffs & Tie Breaker

  • Regular season and playoff games should not end in a tie. Depending on the game, default settings will automatically play an overtime period. In some scenarios the game may ask the players to select an overtime option.
  • Team playoff position:  Ties in the standings will be broken first by head-to-head play. If there are more than 2 teams that are tied, all the teams must have played each other in order for the results to go to head-to-head. Otherwise, least points against, then +/-, then most points for will determine the placement in that order.
  •  The SSC office will update the playoff schedule once all scores have been submitted and after the last regular season game.

Remember… Always have fun!
